Thelma Reeves, Shepton Mallet Almshouses’ longest resident was presented with a gift from Warden Judy Dear. Thelma has been at the Almshouses for over 14 years but is now going to live near her family in Street. Judy has visited Thelma almost daily and said,  “I will miss her very much and have enjoyed swopping stories and picking up gardening tips. She is a lovely Lady.”

Chairman Jeff Curtis said,  “Although we are immensely sad to see Thelma go, we will take this opportunity to begin a refurbishment programme with, we hope, some grant money. We are hoping that we will be able to place two new residents. We shall be reviewing our waiting list and anyone, over the age of 60, with local links can apply to our Clerk.” Details are on our website at alms1627.org.uk.
